High Support Thursday Morning

RELAX IN A BEAN-BAG AND FEEL THE BREEZE ...

On high support Thursdays, participants are hoisted from wheelchairs and settled comfortably into bean-bags in the larger yachts. There are no dinghies used on Thursdays.

On Thursday there are two sailing times a 1000 departure & a 1100 departure. You will need to arrive half an hour prior to your alotted sailing session to ensure you have enough time to get prepared for the sail with sunscreen, life jacket, sling, water etc.. The yachts  are between approx five minutes walk/push from the meeting area. There are limited hoists to lift participants into the yachts and the carer is responsible for placing their client into the sling - Volunteers will use the hoist to guide the sling and place the participant into the bean-bags on board.

Experienced volunteer skippers and crews take the yachts into local waters and the gentle sail is always.

'Nev Thomas' is a motorised pontoon which we borrow from Fishability once a week to take people who unable to be lifeted into boats due to their condition. They remain in their wheelchair accompanied by their carer and are secured to the vessel and travel at a leisurely pace up to Elizabeth Quay or over to South Perth. Please be aware there are limited places available on the 'Nev Thomas' and they are reserved for those unable to sail any other way.
