Autumn Pennant 5 - 27th February 2016

Four DSC boats headed down-river to TYC to contest Autumn Pennant 5 in two heats at the TYC Regatta in a fleet of 18 total. Overall, Weekend Warrior (Tony Fist) collected first place in the Mixed Fleet Division.  Bringing these results back to the DSC Pennant Series.  1, 2, 3 in both races for the Sabre class went to Weekend Warrior (Tony Fist), Blu-tack (James Caspar) and Red Sea Pedestrian (Gordon Wilson) for both races, with Red Sea Pedestrian taking the handicap win in both heats.  This just leaves Better Than (David Box and Mike Whitemore) to collect first place on yardstick and handicap in the DSC Open Class.  Full results available here. 

Autumn Pennant 4 - 20th February 2016

There was a reasonable turn-out for Autumn Pennant 4, with 15 starters.  Andrew Clippingdale teamed up with Ethan Hamilton in Hunny to take out first place on both yardstick and handicap in the Deviot Dinghies class, followed over the line by Tru-Blu (Shaun Gaynor) and DSC Pacer #2 (Mark and Everette Dewsbury).  DSC Pacer #2 pipped Tru-Blu at the post in the handicap results, taking 2nd.  

Zahir (George Fish) held off Weekend Warrior (Tony Fist) and Chief (Nick Saava) to take the line honours win in the Sabre class, with handicap placings going to Red Sea Pedestrian (Gordon Wilson), Bada Bing (Tristan Henderson) and Chief (Nick Saava) respectively.

505 Better Than (David Box and Di Maynard) cleaned up in the Open Class, winning both on yardstick and handicap. A Salt Weapon (Frank Brunacci) finished in 2nd place on yardstick, even with a minor mishap of hitting Australia, resulting in a quick swim. D2 (Don and Helen Hazeldine) finished third on yardstick.  Second place on handicap went to D1 (John Davey), followed by D2 (Don and Helen Hazeldine).  Full results available here.

Point Rapid Return - 13th February 2016

Challenging conditions for the Point Rapid Return saw only the Open Class boats making it properly under the Batman Bridge, and along Moriarty Reach.  The rest of the fleet enjoyed the strong winds and a trip to inspect the bridge before a few laps of the river out the front of the club house.  Handicap results as follows:

Autumn Pennant 3 - 6th February 2016

Autumn Pennant 3 was sailed over three heats on a warm day on the 6th of February.  Competition was close in all classes over the three heats.  Yardstick results in the Deviot Dinghies division were dominated by the Mirrors, with Tru-Blue (Shaun Gaynor) taking out a first and then two seconds, and Hunny (Andrew Clippingdale), a second then two firsts.  Hunny took out handicap wins in all heats.  Weekend Warrior (Tony Fist) took out the first two races in the Sabre class, before being beaten by Magpie Logic (Ken McLean) in race three.  Red Sea Pedestrian (Gordon Wilson) sailed well, taking out two handicap wins, and then Magpie Logic's line honours win in the final race secured him the handicap win as well.  Better Than (David Box) had a successful day in the Open Class, with both handicap and line honours wins in all three races. Autumn Pennant 2 - 30th January 2016

Wild weather hit Tassie in the few days leading up to Autumn Pennant 2 on the 30th of January, likely leading to a small fleet taking the water.  There were no starters in the District Dinghies class, however five sabre starters highlighted the dedication and competition of the fleet.  Weekend Warrior (Tony Fist) took line honours, with Chief (Nick Savva) taking out the handicap win.  Only two starters in the open fleet saw Wife Says Sell (Mike Whitemore and David Box) first on corrected time and D2 (Don and Helen Hazeldine) first on handicap.  Full results available here.

Peter Brooks Memorial - 26th January 2016

The Peter Brooks Memorial race was held on Australia Day as part of the DSC Disover Sailing Day.  A small fleet took to the water with D1 (Henry Bush) first over the line on correct time, and D2 (Don and Helen Hazeldine) winning overall on handicap.  Full results available here.

Deviot Regatta - 23rd January 2016

Deviot Regatta was held on the 23rd of January.  Thanks to Tamar Marine and Kooee Snacks for providing prizes on the day.  A fleet of 13 took to the water, and it was good to see some fresh faces and new boats out.  The sabres proved strong on the day, with first on correct time going to Weekend Warrior (Tony Fist), followed closely by Zahir (George Fish) and Chief (Nick Savva).  First on handicap went to Bada Bing (Tristan Henderson), followed by Cheif and then Don and Helen Hazeldine in D2. Autumn Pennant 1 - 16th January 2016

The first race back after the Summer Break saw a good fleet take to the water for Autumn Pennant 1.  Callan and Caleb Robinson took out both line honours and handicap results in the Deviot Dinghies class in DSC Pacer #2.  Tony and George had a good tussle in the Sabres, with Weekend Warrior (Tony Fist) proving victorious with the line honours win.  Red Sea Pedestrian (Gordon Wilson) took the first handicap win of the Autumn Pennant series.  A Salt Weapon (Frank Brunacci) took out both the correct time and handicap wins in the Open class. Trophy Race - 19th December 2015

Eight boats hit the water for the final race before the Summer Break.  Max Davey returned from Sydney to team up with sister Erica Deegan in Xcel-erate to take the corrected time win, followed by DSC newcomer Ken McLean in his Sabre Magpie Logic.  The handicap win went to D2 (Don and Helen Hazeldine) followed by Mark and Gabi Dewsbury in DSC Pacer #2. Full results available here.

Trophy Race - 12th December 2015

A fleet of six contested the Trophy Race on the 12th of December.  Blu-tack (James Caspar) and Praxis (Paul Laverty and Henry Bush) were the crews to beat, with Blu-tack taking line honours on correct time, followed by Praxis.  Praxis took the handicap win, followed by Blu-tack.  Full results available here.  

Spring Pennant 6 - 5th December 2015

The final Spring Pennant for 2015 was held in early December with two short heats.  The two DSC Pacers alternated line honours wins for the two races, with Pacer #3 (Bob Saddington and Gabi Dewsbury) proving victorious overall on handicap.  Weekend Warrior (Tony Fist) took line honours in both races in the Sabre class, and Wife Says Sell (Mike Whitmore and John Hillcoat) taking wins for both line honours and handicap results in the Open class.  Full results available here.

Partridge Cup - 28th November 2015

 A strong fleet of 13 took to the water for the Partridge Cup on the 28th of November.  It was good to see some old faces down at the club that hadn't sailed for a while.  First on correct time went to Mistress Says Faster (Mike Whitmore and John Hillcoat), followed by Xcel-erate (Erica Deegan and Joanna Cameron) and Pure Adrenalin (Taliesha Baylis).  Open class boats took the top three positions on handicap, with D2 (Don and Helen Hazeldine) followed by Msagro (John and Jenny Davey) and Mistress Says Faster. Spring Pennant 5 - 21st November 2015

Spring Pennant 5 was held over three heats in testing conditions.  This allowed for all sailors to get practice on the start line, with the starts improving overall during the three heats.  Xcel-erate (Erica and Zayden Deegan) took a clean sweep in the Deviot Dinghy class, both on corrected time and handicap.  Weekend Warrior (Tony Fist) took line honours in all heats for the Sabre class, whilst Blu-tack (James Caspar) claimed the handicap result in the first two heats, and Weekend Warrior winning the handicap component of the third.  Racing in the Open class was more varied.  D2 (Don Hazeldine) won on both corrected time and handicap for the first heat, and Tomcat Hobie 18 (Nick and Brady Hannson) took both the corrected time and handicap win in the final heat.  Corrected time line honours went to Better Than (David Box) in the second heat, with PRAXIS (Paul Laverty and Henry Bush) claiming the handicap win. Spring Pennant 4 - 14th November 2015

Spring Pennant 4 saw Joe Savva and Joanna Cameron win both line honours and handicap in DSC Pacer #1 for the Deviot Dinghies class.  Zahir (George Fish) was comfortably first over the line in the Sabre class, followed by Blu-tack (James Caspar) who took the handicap win.  First on corrected time for the Open class went to Better Than (David Box and Di Maynard) while PRAXIS (Paul Laverty and Henry Bush) took the handicap victory.  Full results available here. 

Spring Pennant 3 - 24th October 2015

Spring Pennant 3 was sailed on the 24th of October.  Zara Broomby and Bob Saddington took out both the line honours and handicap win in DSC Pacer #3, followed by Foxy Lady II (Amber Tiller and Elizabeth Denison), with second in both categories, and then DSC Pacer #1, sailed by Mark and Everette Dewsbury.  Zahir (George Fish) took a comfortable line honours win in the Sabre class, followed by Red Sea Pedestrian (Gordon Wilson) who took out the handicap win.  Zahir placed second on handicap.  D2 (Don and Helen Hazeldine) took the yardstick and handicap win in the Open Class.  Full results are available here.

Trophy Race - 17th October 2015

Windy conditions only saw two entrants in the two heat trophy race on the 17th of October. Blu-Tack (James Caspar) took the win from PRAXIS (Paul Laverty and Henry Bush) in the first heat on both yardstick and handicap. Blu-Tack was the only finisher in the second heat.  Full results available here.

Spring Pennant 2 - 10th October 2015

The second race of the season, Spring Pennant 2, was sailed on the 10th of October.  All Deviot Dinghy sailors received the same position on corrected time as well as handicap.  Hunny (Andrew and Caitlin Clippingdale) took out first place, followed by Xcel-erate (Erica Deegan and Faith Martin) and DSC Pacer #1 (Mick and Anne-Marie Martin).  There were only three starters in the Sabre class.  The line honours win went to Zahir (George Fish), with Red Sea Pedestrian (Gordon Wilson) taking out the handicap win.  Better Than (David Box and Jody Bush) took both the corrected time and handicap win in the Open Class. Spring Pennant 1 - 26th September 2015

Opening Day saw the first Pennant of the 2015/2016 Season sailed.  Xcel-erate (Erica Deegan) took out the Deviot Dinghies class for both yardstick and handicap.  Three competitors in the Sabre class saw Chief (Nick Savva) winning on line honours, and Blu-Tack (James Caspar) first place in the handicap results. Bettern Than (David Box and Jody Bush) claimed both the corrected time and handicap wins in the Open Class.  Full results available here.
