Sailing Report 5/6 Mar

What a beautiful day for our annual Valentine Picnic Race!

A little slow on the way around, but a good sail on the way back! It is a long way for our Pelicans and our new “Sail On” friends, so WELL DONE to all of you for taking on that fun adventure. Always an enjoyable family day.

Sunday was another great day on the water and a busy one for our 16ft Skiffs!

Sunday morning saw them host the kids from the Hunter Academy of Sport’s Sailing Development Squad. Seems Danny Anderson might need to watch his position on the helm of ATB Morton when daughter Jacinta managed to take the gun for the morning race! Well done Jacinta!

The afternoon saw a fleet of 22 skiffs race for Point score 17, in honour of Club Life Member and long-time Pelican Sailing Master, Lance Long.

In the strong breeze, East Coast Marine & Sail, skippered by stand in helm Tom Crockett (with Troy Dobinson & Dave Hickey) took out first place from TJS Services (Henry Makin, Grant Makin & Israel Smith) and ATB Morton (Danny Anderson, Mat Waters & Harry Morton). Handicap results saw Andrews Meat (Craig Corke, Ben Willis & Nathan Skyrm) finally crack their first win of the season, with East Coast Marine & Sail in 2nd and TJS Services 3rd.
