Victorian States 2015
Victorian State Titles Report
On the weekend of 14 and 15 March, the Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron played host to this year’s State Titles. With 23 entries, it was one of the best attended State Titles.
Our event was run in conjunction with the Musto Skiffs, which certainly added to the excitement.
Conditions on the Saturday were trying, with initially no wind, and then too much!!! We only sailed 1 race out of the scheduled 3. Solid performances by current World Champ Mark Bulka and local boy Johnny Lindholm were the standouts.
Ice cold VB’s (courtesy of our sponsor Soho Lawyers) were enjoyed after the racing.
Sunday proved to be a glorious day for Contender sailing, with strong southerly winds. Thanks must go to the Race Committee for setting an excellent course. 3 races were held with 2 bullets going to Bulka, and one to Dan Kohlman. Solid sailing performances also worthy of note were Tony Nash, Callum Burns, newcomer Tommy Stuchbery and Lindsay Irwin (sailing Sean’s boat on Sunday).
Many thanks again to Jeff Owen our State President and John Lindholm (and the other Blairgowrie guys) for organising the event.
Top 3 were:
Mark Bulka, First Place. 1, 1, (2), 1.
Dan Kohlman, Second Place. (4), 2, 1, 4.
Tony Nash, Third Place. 3, 8, 4, 5.
