Both Brio (skippered by Keith Thompson) and Frakka (skippered by Karen Koedyk) did the S80 fleet proud at the recent CSR Regatta in Rockingham, WA.
Division 2 was a very close field with the top 5 boats finishing within 3 points of each other. Frakka finished in 2nd place overall. Brio finished 5th just 3 points back after 5 races.
In the last race of the series Frakka was progressing to a win. However, a small navigational error resulting in a roman galley style attack, using the mast, to punch a hole through a division 1 competitor’s jib and loss of half of Frakka's chook. The resulting 720 ended the glorious Frakka campaign for the division 2 gold medal.
The S80 association congratulates the skippers, crew and all helpers that have resulted in such a great outcome for Brio and Frakka.
“This regatta has been a fantastic experience. The administration, race management and event control was first class. I’ll be back and I hope next year we get more S80’s – maybe enough to have our own fleet races. I can’t wait for the 2016 event!” reported Frakka's capt. Koedyk.
