Recommended Class Wind Limits

The following maximum wind speeds have been recommended by Class Associations sailing in South Australia.

Class Associations should advise Yachting SA of any changes required to these recommended limits.

Race Officers should consider these recommendations and also take into account the sea conditions, number of safety boats and experience of competing sailors before deciding to start a race. Wind speed measurements should always be take on the race course.

The decision to start a race will be at the sole discretion of the Race Officer, however competititors must understand that they participate in a race entirely at their own risk. RRS Rule 4, Decision to Race states: "The responsibility for a boat's decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone."

Competitiors remain solely responsible for the seaworthiness of a boat whose entry is accepted and the sufficiency or adequacy of its equipment.

These recommended limits will be amended only on specific advice from the Class Association
