Queensland Academy of Sport

The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is an initiative of the Queensland Government aimed at supporting the State's elite and identified developing athletes.

Officially launched in May 1991, the Academy's goal is to ensure that Queensland remains at the forefront of domestic and international sport. To achieve this the QAS provides assistance to Queensland's talented athletes and coaches as they strive for excellence within their sport following a philosophy of being 'athlete centred, coach driven and service supported'.

Maritime Safety Queensland

Maritime Safety Queensland is a branch of the Department of Transport and Main Roads within the Customer Services, Safety and Regulation Division. Their role is to protect Queensland's waterways and the people who use them—providing safer, cleaner seas.

Maritime Safety Queensland is responsible for:

  • improving maritime safety for shipping and small craft through regulation and education
  • minimising vessel-sourced waste and responding to marine pollution
  • providing essential maritime services such as aids to navigation and Vessel Traffic Services
  • encouraging and supporting innovation in the maritime industry.


Enquiries about maritime-related matters should be directed to the nearest Maritime Safety Queensland regional office.

To report marine incidents, marine pollution or emergency maritime matters after office hours use the after hours emergency contacts.

Enquiries about Gold Coast waterways matters including dredging, marine infrastructure, waterways management and the sand bypass system should be directed to the Gold Coast Waterways Authority.

Club Super

Club Super is the Industry Superannuation Fund designed specifically for employees in the sporting and recreational clubs and associated industries in Queensland and is run only to benefit members. 

They have received a Gold rating from independent rating agency, SuperRatings, for the last 5 years.

Club Super has committed to contribute financially to help support the delivery of accredited Race Officials Training in Queensland for the duration of the agreement. These skills are critical to the safe and efficient operation of sailing as both a sport and recreational activity and will greatly improve the capacity of Queensland Clubs to deliver quality events and attract participants to their club. This partnership will continue for three years.

Whitworth's Marine & Leisure, Australia's largest marine accessories retailer has been serving boat owners since 1962. With its' Mail Order departments and sixteen big supermarkets Australia wide Whitworth's Marine & Leisure offers the best service, convenient locations, a huge selection of quality products, and unbeatable prices.

Since 2012, Whitworths has been a major supporter to the Tackers program, which is designed to allow children up to 12 years of age to learn to sail. Whitworths has contributed 15 boats to Yachting Queensland and be made available to Queensland sailing clubs for use in the Tackers Program. The first club to receive these boats acquired an additional 5 boats to provide a fleet of 20 to ensure capacity for major growth of junior participation via Tackers.

Annually thereon, the original 15 boats will be sold at 50% of their replacement cost to another club(s) in Queensland delivering Tackers. Whitworths fund the other 50% of the acquisition 15 new boats. The total 5 year plan will result in the acquisition and distribution of 75 boats to help get kids involved in sailing.

QSport is the representative body for organised, affiliated sport in Queensland and by dint of its extensive membership of mainly State sporting organisations representative of their sporting activity throughout Queensland, is accepted by government as the industry peak body for sport in the State.

Established formally in 1992, QSport is incorporated as an independent industry based collective.

Its mission is to enhance the development of sport in Queensland by working to promote and sustain interest in the development of organised sport in the State.

Marine Queensland

Established in 1973 as a non profit, non-government association, Marine Queensland strives to promote boating through industry leadership. Melanoma Patients Australia

Melanoma Patients Australia is one of the largest melanoma patient advocacy groups in Australia. MPA is the only patient driven non-profit organisation that offers a national network of support and information to patients, their families, carers, and friends, about melanoma prevention, diagnosis, management and treatment.

Melanoma Patients Australia proudly hosts free regional public melanoma forums; offers a community of friendship and support to melanoma patients and friends through face to face support groups and online resources; advocates on behalf of patients to all levels of government, as well as relevant service organisations, researchers and corporations; and, supports research and clinical trials seeking to offer the best options for melanoma patients.
