Canberra Ocean Racing Club

CORC is a yacht-owning syndicate based in the inland city of Canberra, Australia.

The Club was established in 1979, and its purpose is to allow Canberra people to undertake coastal and offshore cruising, and to compete in the occasional ocean race. The Club has owned several yachts over the years, and has recently purchased a new Elan Impression 444 to replace the Bavaria 44 that served well for seven years.

The new yacht was commissioned on 25 June 2011. The yacht, named “Namadgi”, after a national park near Canberra, is berthed at Church Point, Pittwater, on the northern outskirts of Sydney.

Membership in the Club is especially suited to those without the time or funds to maintain a yacht on their own, and is an ideal way for sailors to gain practical experience before acquiring their own boat. The number of members is limited to 26.
