The first non-local entry for the 15-19 July Sunshine Coast Ocean Regatta (SCOR) is Top Gear (RQYS), a canting keel Rogers designed monohull. Owners, Mal and Kelly White have chosen SCOR 2017 (Performance Spinnaker division) as their first hit out in their newly acquired boat.more

Congratulations to the Quest team! They completed the 2016 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race attaining 53rd position in Line Honours, 51st in IRC and 38th in ORCi.more

Its been a long lead up with lots of last minute preparations for the Coward family and the Quest team but if we could speak with them now we are sure they would say it has been worth it.

Harry Smith's Mustang Sails with SCYC

Yesterday 27 Nov, Harry Smith's new MASRM 920 'Mustang' joined the SCYC fleet and had her first sail in the waters of the Sunshine Coast. Harry, Mustang and its crew achieved a great result taking Line Honours over Jade Rose by 12 mins 52 seconds. On corrected time she was 4th - only 36 seconds behind Sundance (3rd) and 40 seconds behind Novocaine (2nd) with Jade Rose in 1st place.more

SCYC's 10th Anniversary and 2016 Presentation Night

SCYC members both past and present celebrated ten years of sailing, friendship, companionship and competitiveness at The Yacht Club on 12 October. Old memories were shared and relived with the help of old photos which were resurrected for the evening.more

SCYC Purchases Club Power Boat

Well, its happened! We've bought a boat!

In early October, just in time for the SCOR regatta the club purchased a Safety/Race Committee Power Boat. It is a “no-frills, go-anywhere” Yalta Craft Odessa 615 with a 200HP 2-Stroke Evinrude outboard motor.more

Sunday 10 April - Lady Skipper Race 3 & Combined Clubs Race 2

Despite a forecast of 0-5 knots, perfect sailing conditions of NE 10-15 knots eventuated for Race 3 of the SCYC Lady Skippers Sunday Series with six ladies competing. Concurrently with the Ladies doing battle, the second race of the 2015-2016 Combined Clubs series was also sailed with a very creditable fleet of 16 boats.
