Questions & Answers
1. What is changing?
We are building on the previous offering, to provide coffee, breakfast and lunch during the day. The cafe will be open to members and visitors to enhance the service we are able to offer to members and to enable us to make a greater contribution by way of income to RANSA.
Post-race we will continue to offer club favourites such as steaks, burgers and fish & chips, as well as more seafood and other options. Please give us your suggestions on things you’d like to see on the menu.
2. Will prices increase?
We’re endeavouring to maintain similar pricing to that previously offered for comparable items. We will also introduce fresher and higher quality produce where possible and this may come at a slightly higher cost.
3. Will there be a member discount?
Yes, there is a members’ discount of 15% on in-house menu items – please refer to the menu for the latest.
4. How do members claim their discount?
Members will need to show their membership card and matching ID when they place their order to claim the discount. Members can claim the discount for themselves and one guest.
5. What are the service hours?
We will be open on sailing days (Wednesday and Saturdays through winter) from 7am through to 7pm (or when sailors are fed and happy!).
6. Can members continue to bring their own food to prepare & consume at the Club?
Yes, members can continue to bring their own food to prepare and consume at the club.
7. Can members continue to access the kitchen area?
Due to work, health and safety protocols, we will need to limit members’ access to the kitchen while it is in operation, however we propose to create a designated preparation and wash area for members that want to bring their own food.
8. What are the bar arrangements?
There are no changes to the bar arrangements – it will continue to be managed and run by the club. Only sailors and their crew are permitted to access the bar and we will help the club to enforce this.
9. What will happen with regular club events (ie Mess Dinner and NYE)?
We will look to provide catering services via quote or tender for all regular club events and sailing activities. We will work with the House Committee to ensure our services meet your expectations.
10. Can a member use their own catering provider?
Yes, a member can use their own catering provider for a private event, subject to the normal RANSA procedures.
11. Why is the kiosk serving soft drinks?
As the public are not permitted access to the bar area, we will continue to sell soft drinks whilst the bar is open. The value of the soft drinks sold during the periods the bar is open will be reimbursed to RANSA.
12. What is happening with the coffee cart area?
The coffee cart is a temporary setup. We’re currently working with the club to agree on a design for a more functional layout that can be stowed out of the way when not in use.
13. Why can't the coffee machine be located in the Galley?
We had looked at locating the coffee machine in the galley, however our coffee suppliers have advised us that the high temperatures during service periods are not suitable for serving or storing coffee.
