How Long Have You Been Sailing F11s: I started sailing flying 11s when I was 13 at Drummoyne Sailing Club. I moved to MANLY Sailing Club in 2007, where i have sailed from for the past 2 years.
Tell Your Sailing History In Brief [100 words]: I started sailing in a MJ when i was 8, crewing with my cousin Skye, and sailed with her for 3 years. I then got a flying 11 and started steering, sailing with my dad every now and then. I also sail for the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia in their Match Racing Squad. Last year I was selected for the Australian Sailing Development Squad for Match Racing.
What Other Boats/Classes Do You Currently Sail/Skipper/Crew: I do match racing in 6m Elliots at the CYCA all year round, which also leads to many other types of yachts depending on the regatta. I sailed a 29er with my old coach Joe Turner in the worlds in 2007. I sail on our Farr 30 with my family.
What's Your Most Memorable Sailing Achievement: Maddie and I have accomplished so much this year, and I am so proud of the results we have achieved over the various regattas including states, sprints and youths and of course nationals. I will always remember the day I was selected in
Perth for the ASDS as it was such a shock to me.
What's Your Most Favourite Sailing Memory [50 words]: My best flying 11 memory was with my crew 3 years ago Lizzie Jones and coach Joe Turner. We went training in a 35 knot southerly in the Drummoyne end of the harbour in a shallow section. The waves were pretty intense and the wind was a bit crazy but we were smiling the whole time, going pretty fast if you ask me!
Who Would Be Your Sailing
Mentor: Joe Turner, Baz Atkins
What Do You Like about the F11s [50 words]: Flying 11s are an open class with plently of competition, fun and social events. The boats are designed to go fast and enjoy.
What Are Your Future Sailing Goals: To go to Youth Worlds, to be selected for the Olympics, to do
Sydney to Hobart.
