Containers to Tasmania 2010 F11 Nationals - Urgent Response Request
We have for some time now (a long-winded exercise) been dealing with up to 6 different companies in order to arrange three 40ft containers – 36 boats maximum - for some of the Flying 11 fleet from Sydney to Tamar YC and return. The initial exercise was over $1.2k per boat as mentioned in a previous newsletter. After tallying up all the various charges quoted by these 6 companies, we have arrived at an approximation of what the eventual total costs would be if we chose to go ahead with this deal, based on 36 boats in containers to Tassie and back.
The approximate cost per boat @ 36 boats utilising the container transport option, including *insurance, fuel surcharge and GST would be $750, (*the special insurance is optional per boat @ $140 - your normal insurance does not cover container transportation. The fuel surcharge also fluctuates and will be set at time of departure). ***This price may be reduced by approximately $100 per boat, and we are awaiting confirmation of this discount at the time of publication. As we only have 36 spots available, it is obviously not a deal for the whole fleet. The cost is dependant on 36 spots being taken up for the three containers.
The National Executive needs to ascertain the total number of boats wishing to take up the container option. The best case cost scenario is resultant upon 36 spots utilised (or 12 boats per container), otherwise the cost does escalate due to reduced numbers.
We need your interest registered re the container transport option, and you need to inform us of your intention to take up a spot in the containers by return email to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. We will advise of your confirmation within the next two weeks. A $500 deposit will then be required to secure your container place accordingly. We shall keep you informed once the absolute figure is established.
