F11 TRAINING CAMP AT PITTWATER/BASIN WED 8TH - FRI 10TH OCTOBER 2008

We're back with another great fun filled 3 days of F11 training on Pittwater with optional camping at the Basin Camp Grounds or daily arrival/departure from the Avalon Sailing Club (ASC) Clareville Beach.

The ASC will be our hosts for the duration of the training camp, where you can be transported to and from the training area/Basin Camp Grounds by one of the ASC support vessels by arrangement at designated times. The ASC responsible parent contact will be the wonderful Vicki James (tel: 9476 4848), who will also coordinate lunch food arrangements etc.  All training will be on Pittwater with some light lunch provided by the ASC volunteers and other F11 parents over at the Basin each day. Note that Nat. Park camping fees per night are $14 per adults and $7 per child, landing fees ($3approx.) included.  Follow this Nat.  If not camping, you will need to pay a landing fee each day to the Park Ranger when they are at the site as no formal arrangement has been made with the Nat. Parks. This landing fee covers rubbish removal and provision of all their services, so it is a fair cop if they are there to collect your money. Remember you will be seen as representatives of the Flying Eleven class so be on your best behaviour so we can return next time etc....

TRAINING DETAILS
Our coaches for the camp will be Chappo (Andrew Chapman) - past F11 National Champ and YNSW Coach Richard Scarr. Richard will be the head coach our training and will also be conducting the on water segment of our Coaches Accreditation Scheme for a number of our familiar senior F11 sailors in the process of becoming accredited junior coaches for their clubs and beyond. All in house and all good news for the class.

Richard has provided a programme guide below for your information and planing, noting this is a flexible arrangement and some aspects of the plan will be re-arranged to suit conditions etc. For our first timers, you may wish to rig up on Clareville Beach rather than Avalon Sailing Club (most visitors do) as it is a little awkward climb down to the club decking area, and it is only a short walk to the club to check out what is happening from the nearby Clareville Beach. Parents, watch out for the parking nspectors - they bite!!!! The club and coaches will be around to inform and assist you at either location so all will be sweet.

Wednesday 8th

9.30- Rigged

9.30am- Session 1 Boat set up theory and Practical

12.30 Lunch

1.30pm Session 2-Communication

2pm- Session 3-Boat handling Theory and Practical

4.30 End De brief

5pm.Return to Avalon/Beach

  

Thursday 9th

8am Arrive Avalon/Beach

9am Session 4 Rigged and check boat set up again

9.30am- Session 5-Strategy and Tactics theory and Practical

12.30- Lunch

1.30 Session 6 Starts Theory and Practical

4.30 End De brief

5pm Return to Avalon/Beach

9.30 Session 7 Regatta Management and Season management
