End Of Season BASH at Georges River Sailing Club

We have been trying to introduce the F11 Class "back" to Georges River Sailing Club at Dolls Point in Botany Bay for some time now, and here is our chance!

GRSC has about 20 Sabot sailors wanting to graduate into the next level, and this is where the F11s fit in.

This Sunday 6th April, GRSC will be holding an open day for the club juniors to trial the next class of boat, either a Flying Eleven or a Flying Ant. Manly have already 10 boats going and Lane Cove have a number of boats going too. Manly has organised for those that wish to trial a F11 to have a go from 12pm and then hold a race - open to all - around 2-2:30pm which should be a hoot. It's free too and GRSC if you haven't been there yet is really great to rig up and sail at. We plan to get an association event there shortly so a good chance to trial these waters.

This is a chance for F11s to become the next class of boat for the juniors at GRSC so we want to put on a great show, and obviously show that the F11 is a far better choice than an old "you know what".

NSW AGM 6 May Balgowlah RSL 7:30pm

Our next regular meeting of the Associations is also the NSW AGM. We meet the first Tuesday of every month and thus the next one (also AGM) is Tuesday 6 May meeting at Balgowlah RSL at 7:30pm.

Nominations for various positions are needed to continue running the show - it's really not much to put in some input so the class remains the outstanding training class in Australia. Even if you don't have time for a position, or you don't come to any other meetings throughout the year, your comments would be a plus for those carrying the banner this time around.

You are all welcome of course.

1st Round of the NSW State Titles at Gosford Sailing Club

Gosford have confirmed they are able and willing to have the first round of the states on the weekend of 6th and 7th December 2008.
We are still looking for a venue for Round 2.

2009 Flying Eleven Yearly Journal

This year, all Clubs and States are required to get their 2009 F11 JOURNAL articles and news in to us right after the season - instead of leaving it to the last week in December.

All delegates can forward their news from each club to pricey@aapt.net.au and I will get it sorted and to our printers over the next couple of months.

All news, this years' heroes and any photos are needed by June please.

F11 NSW 2008 Sprint Championships 27 September

Hunters Hill will be once again hosting our early season sprint series, this time around it will be held on ONE day only, this being the Saturday 27th September 2008.

HHSC intend to trial the feed class format of last year once again.

Upper Harbour Championships 2008

Lane Cove 12'SSC have advised they are putting on the UHC in November (the date as yet to be determined).

If it coincides with last year, it most probablly will be the 1st Nov 2008, but more detail and confirmation will be forthcoming in the next newsletter.

WINTER TRAINING PROGRAMME organised by Andrew Chapman

Andrew Chapman, past F11 Champ will be coordinating a Winter Race Training programme this coming winter at various clubs and locals for all who just can't get enough, as well as those that want to hone their skills for the new season ahead.

Full details can be sort by giving Andrew a call on 0405 455 074.

At present, he has advertised training days at Avalon for 4 May, 25 May, 22 June, 27 July and 17 August. For those wanting a harbour venue, Upper Harbour Traing will be on 18 May, June 1, June 29, August 3 and August 10.

Bethwaite Series at Belmont including F11s Confirmed for 9 & 10 Nov

Belmont are hosting the Bethwaite Series once again this year, including our F11 class. There are about 15 or so F11s that compete in this series from Belmont itself, so there is plenty of competition for those that can make it up this year.

It is designed to cater to the feeder classes of the 29er, and nearly everyone gets a prize (apparently) from Bethwaite design, its' sponsors.

It would be great if all clubs would consider making room for this event when producing the next season's calendars, giving those that are interested a chance to travel and sail on one of the best waterways you will ever find.

2009 Nationals Confirmed For Eden Jan 11-18

It is now official that we are off to Eden for the 2008 F11 Nationals Championships in January 2009.

Eden is a great holiday destination so it would be very wise to get cracking now with your accommodation bookings etc.

The racing at Eden will be hosted by the Two Fold Bay Yacht Club on Two Fold Bay. Whilst it is inside the two bay area, it is also quite open to the Tasman Sea so it will be one of the best venues for wind guarantee, and the area is great for all kinds of other activities for the rest of the family.

Stay tuned for more details via our website soon.

Have fun over winter,
