2006/2007 NSW State Titles Round 1 Heats 1-4

Hosted By Gosford Sailing Club

Hosted by Gosford Sailing Club on December 2nd & 3rd, the weekend was favoured with a weather change from the south that allowed racing to commence soon after midday on Saturday.

The 20 knot plus strength of the southerly breeze set the scene for close, exciting sailing and thills and spills from the 64 boats competing. Sailing strategy, mark rounding techniques and in many instances righting techniques were put to the test during the 4 heats over 2 days. For some crews this was their first experience of strong wind and choppy waters.

Notable heat 1 first start first boat to the top mark was Frustration (Amy Lee, M Nain).

Heat 4 first boat at the top mark and leader to the finish Rusty (A Ezzy, L Warburton).

First four crews overall after 4 heats: Panther (J Sharrock, K Fay) 1,2,1,3. Heroes + Villains (R Crawford, M Crawford) 3,1,2,2.  Upbeat (S Schultz, E Knighton) 4,3,4,14.  Cats and Dogs (S Leicester & M Graham) 2,4,11,6.

Thanks to Gosford Sailing Club and their supporters, Peter Moore as Race Officer and an extremely keen group of young sailers for making the weekend a huge success.

State Championship Heats 5-7 will be sailed at RPAYC on Pittwater the 10th & 11th February.
