NDIS - High Support Programs

These high support programs for "Special Needs" are designed for Sailors of any age "Kids to Seniors" with key goals that include "one-on-one" personal instruction from a qualified coach, as well as specialized support from trained Volunteers. We include Club facilities, Safety equipment, Sailing Boats suitable for Disability Sailing, Safety Boats, and Coach Boats.

Goals may include Work Experience, Recreational Sailing, Independent Sailing, Competition, or becoming an important Sailing Team or Club member.

Sailors are encouraged to pursue their goals, maximize their independence, and perform at their Personal Best by World Championship Coaches. They will gain new knowledge and be made to feel that they are part of a Team.

The one-on-one approach encourages sailors to have improved focus, better communication and engagement, and allows for these specialized activities to further develop their physical and emotional self esteem.

All Club Staff have Yellow Cards or Blue Cards with Yellow Card Exemption and most have First Aid.

The Supervisory teams include Special Olympics (AIS) qualified World Games Coaches and qualified "Australian Sailing" Club Coach and Racing Instructors.

Sailboat availability may be limited so Service Bookings are essential through the "MyPlace" system.

After your initial approval you have three NDIS Management Choices - (1) You can Manage your own Support Plan and Finances, (2) You can have the NDIA Agency assist you, or (3) You can hand all of your affairs over to a 3rd party Provider. (Discuss these choices with your NDIA Local Area Coordinator)

After approval you can make your "Service Booking" in the NDIS "MyPlace" system by searching for "Gold Coast Sailing Club Limited". NOTE: If our Club (Provider) is located outside your service area radius (Klms) you may not be able to find us listed in the NDIS "MyPlace" system. In that case the Club will email you an Invoice that you can process through your local office.

Read this entire page firstly to be sure that you are applying for the most suitable "Support funding Approval" with the "most appropriate application wording".

My NDIS application was successful, what happens now?

The NDIA will assign a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) to work with you in developing your NDIS Plan. The NDIA will let you know when to expect to hear from the LAC when you are informed of their decision.

Developing your NDIS Plan                Checklist for your Planning conversation

The participant and each Provider will work together to set up a Service Agreement in the NDIS "MyPlace" system that sets out how we will work together and how much the Club (Provider) will get paid. The Client sets up the first service booking on the NDIS "MyPlace" Provider Portal and the Club accepts it online before the first booking.
