Kingston Beach Sailing School - TACKERS

For many young sailors their sailing journey starts with the Kingston Beach Sailing School (KBSS), an initiative of the Kingston Beach Sailing Club. The School was founded to provide a professional approach to sail training and to cater for the increasingly large number of people who wish to learn to sail.

The School offers beginner and intermediate sailing programs for children and adults. It also supports pathways for KBSC members who want to participate in the YA Training and Development scheme to become Instructors or Assistant Instructors.

The School’s primary aims and functions are to:

  • Share knowledge and provide instruction in water safety, sailing and seamanship

  • Run nationally accredited syllabuses and programs developed by Yachting Australia Training and Development scheme.

  • Raise the profile of water activities, in particular sailing, within the Kingborough and greater Hobart communities

Kingston Beach Sailing Club is an official Yachting Australia “Discover Sailing Centre”

MacIntyre Cup for Mirrors

Multiple races for all other classes

In conjunction with the MacIntyre Cup for Mirror sailors, the club is holding a Pot Luck dinner on Saturday November 25th from 17:30.  Included in your ticket price for a two course meal is a presentation by a Pot Luck speaker; come and hear about life after KBSC for our young people.

For this event we have been fortunate to secure Susie Graney. Susie has been involved in boats, sailing and salt water since birth. In January 1998 Susie joined the Royal Australian Navy as a Seaman officer and spent the next 18 years living and working in all states, except SA.  She has served on a range of different vessels including the STS Young Endeavour, Patrol boats, Frigates and Replenishment ships with several operational deployments. Since 2016 Susie has worked on the Windeward Bound where she shares her passion for youth development and teaching, a keen love of sailing and all things maritime.

Interested members and friends are warmly invited to come along to the evening. The evening will conclude by 19:30pm.

Cost is $12 pp, with a family $35.  Drinks available for purchase. RSVP is essential for catering. areynolds@kbsc.org.au
