Is your child interested in enrolling in the next learn to sail class at Kingston Beach Sailing Club?

Tackers is a kids-centric, non competitive, games based, social course.

There are three levels of Tacker training:

Tackers 1 (Having Fun) is designed for children aged 8-12 yrs, who have had little or no sailing experience.

It is conducted in our Tacker Optimist dinghies, two children to a boat.

Tackers 2 (Tricks and Techniques) follows on from Tackers 1. Children take command of their own boat and build on the skills they learnt in Tackers 1.

Tackers 3 (Sailing Fast) consolidates the learning from Tackers 2 and the children learn how to get their boat to sail faster through fun games and activities.

Courses for each level consist of 8 three-hour sessions commencing on Saturday October 14th and running through to December 16th.

Sessions run from 9am until 12 noon. We do not generally run classes on long weekends.

Boats are provided for all courses. Sailors need to be able to swim 25 metres unaided.

The cost of the course is $260. This includes use of a club boat, life jacket (PFD), personal insurance for the duration of the sailing season through membership of Australian Sailing and trainee membership of the Kingston Beach Sailing Club.

Family membership includes one course and students pay a discount price of $160 for post Christmas courses. (See Jenny for explanation of family “deals”)

Please contact Jenny on 0421 064 590 or dandjgraney@bigpond.com to pencil in a booking or for further information.

Early registration is recommended as the courses fill up quickly.

Payment for pre-Christmas courses is required by 7th October 2017 to secure your child's place in the course.

MacIntyre Cup for Mirrors

Multiple races for all other classes

In conjunction with the MacIntyre Cup for Mirror sailors, the club is holding a Pot Luck dinner on Saturday November 25th from 17:30.  Included in your ticket price for a two course meal is a presentation by a Pot Luck speaker; come and hear about life after KBSC for our young people.

For this event we have been fortunate to secure Susie Graney. Susie has been involved in boats, sailing and salt water since birth. In January 1998 Susie joined the Royal Australian Navy as a Seaman officer and spent the next 18 years living and working in all states, except SA.  She has served on a range of different vessels including the STS Young Endeavour, Patrol boats, Frigates and Replenishment ships with several operational deployments. Since 2016 Susie has worked on the Windeward Bound where she shares her passion for youth development and teaching, a keen love of sailing and all things maritime.

Interested members and friends are warmly invited to come along to the evening. The evening will conclude by 19:30pm.

Cost is $12 pp, with a family $35.  Drinks available for purchase. RSVP is essential for catering. areynolds@kbsc.org.au
