Location of
Largs Bay SC
Largs Bay is a north western suburb of Adelaide, approximately 15n kilometres from the Adelaide CBD.  The club is located on the foreshore just 200 metres north of the Largs Bay jetty on Lefevre Peninsular.
LBSC has over seventy year’s tradition as a family oriented club which nurtures sailing as a competitive sport for adult and youth sailors.
LBSC is located in an area that offers a range of shopping centres and restaurants and of tourist facilities.

The area is well serviced by public transport with buses and trains to the city centre running within close proximity of the club. Several shopping centres are nearby including the West Lakes shopping mall where most major Australian retail stores are represented.
Largs Bay is a short drive from historical Port Adelaide, which is one of Adelaide’s major tourist precincts, "The Port" also provides shopping and service facilities including a boat chandlery.
Facilities at
Largs Bay SC
The LBSC club house is located on the foreshore at Largs Bay adjacent to the Largs Bay jetty, with safe and direct access toa a wide sandy beach.
The club has a large lawned rigging area in front of the club and two large car parking areas to the north and south of the club.  There is a large secure boat yard and a rescue boat storage garage on the club property.
Spectators will benefit from the course layouts as they will be set directly off the clubhouse with excellent viewing opportunities from the club balcony, the Esplanade road and from the nearby Largs Bay jetty.
The LBSC clubhouse consists of three levels:
  • Lower level – boat storage, change rooms and squash courts.
  • Middle level – Main function room, canteen, bar and regatta office.
  • Upper level – lounge, bar, committee room and secretary’s office.
The club has undergone a $1.5 million redevelopment which was completed for the commencement of the 2006 sailing season. The redevelopment has provided the club with modern bar, kitchen facilities and updated change rooms. In addition the main function room and balcony areas have been extended and they provide a very pleasant environment for viewing the racing.
There are two squash courts within the club which are available for use by those who haven’t the nerves to watch the racing. These squash courts also are a convenient location for conduct of sail measuring and briefing sessions to small groups.
Launching, Rigging
and Boat Storage
The beach at Largs Bay is broad and features shallow waters near the shore which allows for easy rigging, launching and retrieving of dinghies, sailboards and catamarans. Boats may be rigged on the beach or on the lawn areas and car park adjacent to the club house.
Coach and support boats may be launched from the beach or from the nearby public boat ramp, which is adjacent to the Cruising Yacht Club of SA, just two kilometres north of Largs Bay. Council by-laws allow motor vehicles access to the beach for the delivery, retrieval and rigging of boats. LBSC also has a tractor and four wheel drive vehicles that are used for launching and retrieving boats.
Competitors boats can be left at the club throughout the series in secure storage areas.  The club has an existing fenced compound and for the duration of the Championships the lawned area at the front of the club will be secured with temporary fencing.
An area can be provided for storage of shipping containers during the event.
Catering Facilities

The Largs Bay club canteen provides excellent and reasonably priced lunches and after race snacks.  A breakfast service can also be organised if desired.
The club canteen also offers a security service for personal valuables.
Largs Bay SC has a SA Club Liquor Licence and our staff will provide bar facilities every afternoon and evening after racing.
The main function room and kitchen has facilities to provide meals for up to 250 persons seated.

Chandlery and
Boat Repairs

A marine chandlery is available at Blue Sky Marine (North Haven), at Whitworths (Port Adelaide) and Rope & Marine (Port Adelaide), which are all within 10 minutes drive of the club.  Should repairs to sails be required there are two sailmakers within 10 minutes drive of the club.  There are also several boat builders within the Port Adelaide area that are capable of performing emergency repairs.

The Club is well situated to take advantage of a variety of accommodation, ranging from caravan parks, rental properties and bed & breakfast venues through to motels and hotels and private homes.
