Largs Bay is in the north western suburbs of Adelaide, approximately 15n kilometres from the Adelaide CBD on the western shore of the Lefevre Peninsular. LBSC has over seventy year’s tradition of being a family oriented club which nurtures sailing as a competitive sport. |
The LBSC club house is located on the foreshore at Largs Bay adjacent to the Largs Bay jetty, with safe and direct access toa wide sandy beach. The club house consists of three levels as follows:
· Lower level – boat storage, change rooms and squash courts. · Middle level – Main function room, canteen, bar and regatta office. · Upper level – lounge, bar, committee room and secretary’s office. The club has recently undergone a $1.5 million redevelopment which was completed for the commencement of the 2006 sailing season. The redevelopment has provided the club with modern bar, kitchen facilities and updated change rooms. In addition the ballroom and balcony areas have been extended and they provide a very pleasant environment for viewing the racing. There are two squash courts within the club which are available for use by those who haven’t the nerves to watch the racing. These squash courts also are a convenient location for conduct of sail measuring and briefing sessions to small groups. |
The beach at Largs Bay is broad and features shallow waters in-shore which allows for easy rigging, launching and retrieving of dinghies, sailboards and catamarans. Boats may be rigged on the beach or on the lawn areas adjacent to the club house. |
Catering Facilities |
The Largs Bay club canteen provides excellent and reasonably priced lunches and after race snacks. A breakfast service can also be organised if desired. |
A marine chandlery is available at Blue Sky Marine (North Haven), at Whitworths (Port Adelaide) and Rope & Marine (Port Adelaide), which are all within 10 minutes drive of the club. |
The Club is well situated to take advantage of a variety of accommodation, ranging from caravan parks, rental properties and bed & breakfast venues through to motels and hotels. For information about local venues please click on the "Accommodation" icon at right. |
