Commodores Message - Upcoming Season 2017-2018
Hi all and welcome to the 2017/2018 sailing season. I would like to say a big thank you to the committee. They are a very enthusiastic and committed group and I think our club is going to have a lot of fun this season.
You will notice a few changes to the way we do club business. Club activity is being communicated directly via email and we are inviting all members to attend committee meetings to put forward ideas, plus we are issuing keys to members for access to the clubhouse -- your clubhouse.
The committee’s aim for the next 12 months is to grow sailing at the TBYC, raise our public profile, increase the membership, engage more with the general membership, grow our junior ranks and build a strong social aspect. It would be great to see 20+ boats out there on a Sunday with a strong ‘off the beach’ contingent, so I urge all our members to get behind your club, get involved and bring your friends.
I would like to take the time to acknowledge previous committees and the work that has been done in the past, and to thank the many people who have offered to help me in this role. It is a relief to know that within our club there is so much knowledge and a willingness to share it.
I hope everyone is keen for a competitive and hotly contested season and don’t forget to head to the clubhouse after our regular races and share your stories over a few drinks.
