Williamstown, Melbourne

With a rich history as Melbourne’s first sea port, the coastal town of Williamstown has developed from an industrial centre to a cultural maritime village.  The historic township is surrounded on three sides by water, with a stunning view of the Melbourne city skyline. The eastern shoreline is sprinkled with remarkable buildings, parks and memorabilia reflecting a fascinating maritime past.

Williamstown’s main commercial precinct is located along Ferguson Street and Douglas Parade, while the original town centre along Nelson Place is lined with historic buildings that have been expertly converted into restaurants, small shops and galleries. Views of Melbourne can be enjoyed from the Commonwealth Reserve and Gem Pier, where cruises and ferries depart regularly, taking you directly into the heart of the Melbourne CBD. Find out more online on the Visit Hobson’s Bay website or in person at the Williamstown Information Centre.
