Docklands Yacht Club overlooks Victoria Harbour with sweeping views of the Melbourne City skyline and the ever changing Docklands precinct. From January 2016, sailing will take place from the 60 metre pontoon at our new premises - the Community Boating Hub, 912 Collins Street, adacent to the Library at Dock Square. Community Sailing days are normally the second and fourth Sunday of each month year round from 11am but are subject to change (check Calendar page for more details). Everyone is welcome. We supply the boats, lifejackets and instruction.
Discover Sailing Day a success!
Lovely Melbourne weather was on hand for the annual Discover Sailing Day at Docklands.
Light breezes were perfect for the novice sailors to learn about sailing and to be instructed in sailing techniques and terminology.
As the day warmed up, the breeze picked up nicely, and the confidence of some of the novices grew and a few were sailing on their own or with other family members, under the watchful eye of the safety boat, by day's end. Over 30 people were on hand to sail, assist and spectate at this annual event.
Following a sausage sizzle, it was back into the boats for more time on the water.
Thanks to all who took part today and all who assisted with the rigging, safety boat driving and sausage sizzling.
We look forward to seeing you back at Docklands Yacht Club on our next Community Sailing Day on November 9th.
