Inaugural Special Olympics Victorian Sailing Regatta
Docklands Yacht Club is hosting the Inaugural Special Olympics Victorian Sailing Regatta on Sunday April 19 the following Sunday April 26. This is a training and coaching event to introduce new and existing sailors with an intellectual disability to sailboat racing. Both days will finish up with a series of short course races.
Later in the year, a selection event will be held to identify the Victorian team to compete at the National Special Olympics Regatta at Adelaide Sailing Club during April 2010. That event will select an Australian team to travel to Athens in 2011.
Up to 20 entries are expected from around the State. If you know someone who is interested, ask them to enter ASAP. The Club is in need of some additional volunteers to help with launching, retrieving and as co-sailors / in-boat coaches for the SO sailors. Can you help?
Launching needs to be underway at 9am both days and we will be off the water by about 3pm. A BBQ lunch will be provided. If you can help out, please email the Secretary email@example.com.
