Docklands Yacht Club overlooks Victoria Harbour with sweeping views of the Melbourne City skyline and the ever changing Docklands precinct. From January 2016, sailing will take place from the 60 metre pontoon at our new premises - the Community Boating Hub, 912 Collins Street, adacent to the Library at Dock Square. Community Sailing days are normally the second and fourth Sunday of each month year round from 11am but are subject to change (check Calendar page for more details). Everyone is welcome. We supply the boats, lifejackets and instruction.
Short Course Racing at Docklands
The Docklands Yacht Club Short Course Racing Series gets underway once again this September.
Scheduled over 7 Sundays through to March next year, the Short Course Series is open to Access 2.3, Access 303 and other classes. Dates for racing are September 18, October 16, November 20 and December 4, 2011, then January 15, February 19 and March 4, 2012.
It is a great fun way to get a start or progress in racing and provides plenty of practice with starts and mark roundings, and helps to develop skills, technique and rules knowledge while enjoying some friendly competition. A limited number of club boats are available for members and visiting sailors.
The Series provides an ideal preparation for sailors competing in the Access Class Victorian Championships (March 17-18 at Lysterfield Sailing Club) and the Australian and World Championships being held in Sydney (April 7-13 at Middle Harbour Yacht Club).
Informal training and coaching may be available in the mornings before racing.
