Docklands Yacht Club overlooks Victoria Harbour with sweeping views of the Melbourne City skyline and the ever changing Docklands precinct. From January 2016, sailing will take place from the 60 metre pontoon at our new premises - the Community Boating Hub, 912 Collins Street, adacent to the Library at Dock Square. Community Sailing days are normally the second and fourth Sunday of each month year round from 11am but are subject to change (check Calendar page for more details). Everyone is welcome. We supply the boats, lifejackets and instruction.
Special Olympics Selection Regatta at Docklands
A Sailing Program has been established by Sailability Victoria and Special Olympics Victoria to provide a skill development pathway and competitive sailing experiences for Special Olympics Athletes.
Following the Selection Regatta being held on August 22 & 23 at Docklands Yacht Club, invitations will be issued to identified sailors to join a Squad to train for the Special Olympics National Games. Not all members of the Squad will have the opportunity to represent Victoria at the National Games Regatta being held in Adelaide during April next year, but all will be involved in an intensive training program over summer.
Docklands hosted the inaugural regatta in April and is a strong supporter of the new program. Two young DYC members have taken key roles with Alison Weatherly appointed Team Manager and Morgan Staley as Coach for the Victorian Team competing at the National Games next year.
