DYC Members recognised at Victorian Yachting Awards
Docklands Yacht Club member Russell Phillips has received the 2013 Victorian Sailor of the Year with a Disability Award at the recent Victorian Yachting Awards.
Held at Sandringham Yacht Club on June 21 and hosted by multiple Gold Medalist and London Olympics Australian Flag-Bearer Malcolm Page, the Awards Ceremony recognized and celebrated the achievements of sailors from around the state.
Russell had a very active season for 2012-13 with a great deal of travel and included wins in the Italian SKUD 18 Championships (Lake Garda, Italy), the Herb Meyer Regatta (San Francisco, USA), the Sail Auckland Regatta (New Zealand) in addition to the Docklands Short Course Series in the Liberty class.
Other DYC members to be nominated were Sally Wilkinson, Sarah Millsom, Cadeyrn Gaskin, and Neil Patterson – all of whom have been actively competing over the past year and have at least one event win to their credit.
Congratulations to Russell and all the nominees.
