Gaskin takes Liberty lead in Short Course Series
Sunday's Short Course Racing at Docklands Yacht Club comprised four races for a fleet comprising Access 2.3, 303 and Liberty sailors. A hot, sunny day brought shifty south south-easterly breezes around 8-10 knots with stronger gusts. Racing was delayed an hour waiting for the morning northerly to be replaced by the new breeze from the opposite side of the compass.
Sally Wilkinson consolidated her lead in the 2.3 fleet, as did Sarah Millsom in the 303 fleet, sailing with Roy Jewell today.
Despite just having returned from New Zealand where he won the Sail Auckland Regatta Liberty division, Russell Phillips gave up his lead in the Liberty division to Cadeyrn Gaskin, who won every race today.
Six Docklands members will head to the Access Class State Championships being held in Ballarat next weekend.
March 17 is the next instalment of Short Course Racing on Victoria Harbour, just two weeks ahead of the Australian and Asia-Pacific Championships that will be held on Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra.
