The most recent Sunday of Short Course Racing at Docklands Yacht Club saw sunny skies and a south south-westerly mainly 10-12 knots with stronger gusts.  These were up to 20 knots in the last couple of races of the six completed.

January was the first time the 2.3 fleet was seen on the course and Sally Wilkinson used every race to refine her skills ahead of the State Championships scheduled for Ballarat next month.  Sally was second in last year's event and has her eye on the trophy in 2013.  Today's clean sweep included two come-from-behind wins, so she is sailing with plenty of speed.

In the 303 division, there were plenty of crew changes and people swapping from two-person to single-person racing.  While this has mixed up the scores, Sarah Millsom (who sailed with Christine Elliott today) has extended her lead to 30 points.  Roy Jewell showed the way in the first four races, but as the wind picked up Beck West made the most of the fresher conditions and took the final two.

Russell Phillips still holds a narrow lead in the Liberty division from Cadeyrn Gaskin.  The pair are tied on points but Russell has more first places in the series, so the tie-break falls in his favour.  He was fast today sailing the red Ferrari, but gear breakage caused him to retire from the final two races.

February 17 is the next instalment of Short Course Racing on Victoria Harbour.  This is just one week ahead of the State Championships, so a good fleet is expected.
