Docklands Yacht Club overlooks Victoria Harbour with sweeping views of the Melbourne City skyline and the ever changing Docklands precinct. From January 2016, sailing will take place from the 60 metre pontoon at our new premises - the Community Boating Hub, 912 Collins Street, adacent to the Library at Dock Square. Community Sailing days are normally the second and fourth Sunday of each month year round from 11am but are subject to change (check Calendar page for more details). Everyone is welcome. We supply the boats, lifejackets and instruction.
Rotary Club of Docklands Try Sailing Day
What a great day was had by all at our Try Sailing Day on Sunday 15th April.
We were blessed with great weather, and our best Try Sailing attendance to date, with 22 registrations including several families. It was nice to see some Docklands residents join us for a return visit.
Father Bob Maguire joined us to check out our Community Sailing, together with some of his fellow charitable dedicatees including Justin Dickinson, founder of The Big Umbrella, and Freeman Trebilcock from InterAction. Father Bob, Justin and Freeman are based at the Hub in Docklands and collaborate on projects which benefit disadvantaged people. Our Club is holding discussion with this dedicated trio, looking at how our interest and projects align and how we can work together in the future.
Special thanks once again to Coral, Ray and Roy from the Docklands Yacht Club, and Docklands Rotary members who helped out - Joseph Ebbage and his daughter Phoebe, Adrian Stanners, Mark Nutter, Trevor Rowe and Lyn Faull. Check out Adrian taking control of the safety boat (photo below), and thanks to Trevor for taking charge of the BBQ.
