Docklands Yacht Club overlooks Victoria Harbour with sweeping views of the Melbourne City skyline and the ever changing Docklands precinct. From January 2016, sailing will take place from the 60 metre pontoon at our new premises - the Community Boating Hub, 912 Collins Street, adacent to the Library at Dock Square. Community Sailing days are normally the second and fourth Sunday of each month year round from 11am but are subject to change (check Calendar page for more details). Everyone is welcome. We supply the boats, lifejackets and instruction.
Breezy Race Day at Docklands
The third session of the Docklands Yacht Club Short Course Racing Series took place this Sunday.
Three crews sailing Access 303s enjoyed the brisk conditions, with southerly breezes ranging from 15 to 25 knots. Roy Jewell & Cadeyrn Gaskin strung together some good placings in today's 6 races, but Sarah Millsom leads Christine Elliot on the overall results.
Most of the sailors just enjoy the regular opportunity to compete on Victoria Harbour, but many also use the series as part of their preparation for the Access Class Victorian Championships in March and the Australian and World Championships being held in Sydney in April.
Scheduled over 7 Sundays through March next year, the Short Course Series is open to Access 2.3, 303, Liberty and other classes. Future dates for racing are January 15, February 19 and March 4, 2012.
