Docklands Yacht Club overlooks Victoria Harbour with sweeping views of the Melbourne City skyline and the ever changing Docklands precinct. From January 2016, sailing will take place from the 60 metre pontoon at our new premises - the Community Boating Hub, 912 Collins Street, adacent to the Library at Dock Square. Community Sailing days are normally the second and fourth Sunday of each month year round from 11am but are subject to change (check Calendar page for more details). Everyone is welcome. We supply the boats, lifejackets and instruction.
Get Into Small Boat Sailing at Docklands
In the week immediately after term finished last year, twelve primary school girls undertook the Yachting Australia Get Into Small Boat Sailing (GISBS) 1&2 training at Docklands Yacht Club.
The girls aged 9-11 spent twenty hours learning about sailing, practising their skills and having fun on the water. The first two days were hindered by torrential rain but by the end of the week the hot sun made capsize and girl overboard drills very pleasant. The girls also enjoyed playing brandy with tennis balls and honed their boat handling recovering the balls from the water and chasing other boats to throw them at.
DYC offers GISBS 1&2 sail training for all ages and abilities with ongoing programs conducted on weekends and by prior arrangement. The club can also take groups of up to 12 students in a private holiday program.
See the link below for more information about training.
