Yachting Victoria 2010 Trailable Yacht Festival

Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th November 2010

The Trailable Yacht Festival will be held in Victoria Harbour – The Docklands precinct.

Yachts will be berthing at Waterfront City Marina. Berthing costs are $45 per night. To book berths contact Sylvia at Waterfront City Marina on 9658 8138 or berthing@melbourne.vic.gov.au. Though there are plenty of berths at time of writing Sylvia advises that it is best to get in early to avoid disappointment.

Registration for the Festival is $10.00 per boat, payable on registration.

On the Saturday afternoon there will be a walking tour of the Docklands from 3.30 to

6.00pm. This will include visiting the Alma Doepel and Wooden Boat Centre. It will culminate at the Docklands Yacht Club where we will have a BBQ (BYO alcohol) commencing approximately 6.30pm.

At 9am Sunday morning we have booked the Berth restaurant for breakfast ($20/head). At

10am we will gather at the Harbour Room at Waterfront City where Mike Smith will be the guest speaker. Mike has taken over the editorship of the popular Creeks and Harbours

Cruising Guides originally authored by Richard Hawkins. Mike will talk about the two recently released editions and how he would like to see the books develop in the future.

Following the breakfast meeting we can enjoy seeing a bit more of Docklands or support the

“Go Sailing Day”.

We will then make our way back down the Yarra to St Kilda Marina or Warmies or

wherever we launched our boats

If you haven’t been to Docklands before, this is a great opportunity to enjoy a great cruising destination that has something to offer for all members of the family. Come along for all or for part of the Festival.
