Melbourne Cup Day Weekend Cruise Gippsland Lakes

Melbourne Cup Day weekend Cruise Gippsland Lakes

Nov 1st to 4th 2014

Once again this weekend is coming around very quickly, we know that the regulars will be there. How about coming down and joining in! This weekend is always a good one for getting away and not having to come home the very next day.

Arrive at Painesville on Friday evening or first thing Saturday morning to be ready to set sail as soon as possible after a 10.00 am briefing by the Slip Road ramp.

Our proposed weekend destinations will be decided prior and conveyed at the briefing once we know what the weather is likely to be over the following few days.

It’s traditional to gather for happy hours so bring chairs, drinks and nibbles.

For the newer members who haven’t done much cruising, we can tie up to jetties at different locations when available. However if there isn’t enough room, we go to the beach and back the yacht in stern first with the bow anchor set well out in the water in front of the yacht. You will need on board a stern anchor with chain, stake and long ropes that can be run further ashore if pole or trees are available.

While most of the cruising destinations have toilets available on shore, a porta potty should be carried.

We usually retrieve around midday on Tuesday to enable derigging and travel back home before sunset.

It is important to know who is coming, especially when something may have happened and you havn’t turned up by the briefing, we can then try to make contact and advise you where are are going.

So please contact Lloyd the cruise coordinator to indicate your participation in the cruise and for question about this event on either...
