Refuge Cove Cruise
Refuge Cove/Corner Inlet
Queen’s Birthday Weekend Cruise 2014
Saturday 07– Monday 09 June
MTYC have planned a cruise to Refuge Cove on Wilson Promontory, departing from the Port
Welshpool ramp early on the Saturday morning and returning back early Monday afternoon.
A call will be made on Thursday night if the weather forecast is bleak, otherwise Saturday mornings
forecast will determine whether we go or not.
The skipper/owner is responsible for the condition of the yacht and they must be mindful of the crew’s
abilities. It is his/her decision whether to go, or not or to turn back given the weather forecast and
prevailing conditions. Skippers not continuing must notify the cruise coordinator to avoid unnecessary
action when you fail to arrive.
Departure time 9.00am, this will give an excellent departure current as we leave corner inlet and pass by
the top tip of the Prom. The trip is 23NM and at 5KN average it will take 5 hours minimum to get there
plus/minus any SOG’s caused by tides and winds.
All yachts must be safely anchored by 4.00pm in Refuge Cove on Saturday night.
Note; with westerlies there are the odd bullets of wind coming off the Promontory’s mountains.
