Rules and Regulations
As approved by the event Technical Delegate and UCI representative, all Cycling events at the Melbourne 2002 World Masters Games will be conducted under UCI technical regulation with the following exceptions and modifications-
IRR
Set distance around a very short course of 4km. The course is situated right on the edge of the CBD and events will be held around the perimeter of the Royal Botanic Gardens. Riders if lapped, will be withdrawn at 4 laps to go, so as not to influence the result of the race by either assisting or hindering the remaining riders. Consideration is to be given as recording such riders as being laps down in lieu of the normal time gaps.
IRTT
20km individual time trial at 30 second intervals. Fastest time wins, etc. This system worked well in 1994 for the Brisbane World Masters Games and it should satisfy most of the competitors. The 20km distance is in line with the recent UCI World Masters Championships.
CRIT
Heats raced as set times with Finals raced as set time plus 2 laps, Judges placings, subject to all clear from Chief Commissionaire. In some categories (age groups) heats will be required. The circuit is 900m and any lapped riders will be withdrawn.
MTB
Set distances, Judges placings, subject to all clear from Chief Commissionaire.
SPT/DBY
Set distances, Round 1 winners to Round 2, all 2nd place riders in round 1 to Repechage with Repechage winners to Round 2. Round 2 winners to semi finals, losers to Repechage. Semi finals winners to race for 1, 2, 3, second placegetters to final for 4, 5, 6. Due to the large entry there will not be a flying 200m time trial to establish seeding. Seeding will be determined by our Regional Handicapper on information lodge with entry form and results studied from recent UCI World Masters Track Championships. A further guide to current form could be the Time Trial which is the first track discipline.
T/T
Set distances, Fastest time wins, etc. Due to large entry numbers 2 on the track at once with the start/finish at the pursuit lines.
IP
Fastest 4 from qualifying round to Finals. Fastest 2 to Finals for Gold and Silver, 3rd and 4th fastest race for Bronze. This system is used in recent UCI World Masters Championships.
SCR
Set distances with heats required in some categories. Judges placings subject to all clear from Chief Commissionaire.
Dispute Resolution/Appeal process
Under the new UCI rules, in effect since January 2000, there is no avenue of appeal against the Chief Commissaire's decision. Riders may discuss the problem with the Chief Commissaire, however, the final decision rests with the Chief
Commissaire.
