Premier League Grand Final Results

Congratulations to Capricorn Coast, this year's Minor Premiers as well, in taking out this year's Wesley Hall Cup on Saturday 16 September. The exciting 2017 final was played out in front of a packed crowd that filled Apex Park to bursting. The game ebbed and flowed with both teams leading at different stages and with Frenchville's do or die attitude they lead 3-2 with not long left on the clock. Coast also don't know the meaning of quitting and with 5 minutes to go drew level after a well taken corner. Then with barely a minute left in regulation time a scappy goal put them ahead 4-3. After 4 minutes of tense and nervous extra time it was all over with Coast prevailing. We've had two great finals the last two years that's for sure.

Frenchville got up over Coast in the Div 2 final with Coast not looking as sharp as they were when they knocked off Clinton in the major semi-final. But it was still a close one: 1-nil to the Roos and well done after a tough match against Clinton the week before.

It was a close affair in the first game of the day, the Women's Intercity Championship Trophy match between Gladstone's Meteor Rites and Gracemere Bears. With hardly anything separating the teams in their season stats it was only ever going to be close. The game finished 1 all after full time and with the Div 2 final looming the game went straight to penalties. Gracemere became the first Rockhampton Women's League team to lift the Trophy winning the penalty shootout 4-1.

So a great way to finish the season. Well done to Cap Coast for a well organised event and congratulations to all teams for their efforts on the day. See you all in 2018!
