Cup Draw & Finals Day

Please see the spreadsheet at the foot of this page for details of the Draw which was made at a Committee Meeting on Tuesday evening. The Mens and Ladies competitions are on separate tabs.  In a nutshell:

  • The Mens draw is straightforward. There are 8 teams who will contest 4 first round matches. Winners to semi-finals of the Cup and losers to semi-finals of the Plate.
  • Round 1 must be played no later than 17 April (please go ahead and play earlier if you can). Thereafter, follow the draw across the page to determine if you are at home or away for the semi-finals.
  • Semi-finals must be played no later than 1st May. Again, please go ahead and try to play earlier if you can. The semi-final home teams are easily identifiable from the draw so please go ahead and make sure you have hall availability, ready to invite whichever team you will end up playing.

The Ladies draw is less straightforward as we have 5 teams, which means a bit of jiggery-pokery to arrive at 4 teams for the semi-finals.

  • As we have an odd number of teams, we have included a triangular qualifying fixture for the teams placed 3rd, 4th and 5th in the Ladies division league table as of 09:00 on 15th March, based on results received by the league secretary up to that point. The first and second placed teams from that qualifying triangular fixture will progress to the semi-finals.
  • The first and second placed teams in the League table at 09:00 on 15th March will progress straight to the semi-finals. They will be the home team for the semi-finals and will play the qualifiers as set out on the schedule.
  • The committee agreed that, if all 3 teams playing the qualifying fixture wish to, the 3 matches may be played over a best-of-3 sets format.
  • The 3 teams may agree between themselves which teams play the first match. However, the second match MUST feature the winners of the first match against the third team. That way, the last match will not be a ‘dead rubber’ as whatever happens the 2 teams playing the last match cannot have been eliminated by then.
  • Triangular qualifying fixture must be played no later than 17th April. Please agree between yourselves a mutually convenient venue, and it is expected that the 3 teams will share the cost of hall hire. In the past, teams have provided referees from amongst themselves (non-playing team to referee the match being played. I may be available to help with refereeing, if you let me know when/where the triangular is to take place).
  • Semi-finals must be played no later than 1st May.

Provisional date for Finals Day is Sunday 22nd May. We are checking hall availability at Dartford and will confirm in due course.
