Top Scorers: Elie Montgomery (9pts), Hannah Barakat (6pts), Tiarne Simons & Emily Baker (2pts each)

Game Report: Keilor over-ran us with their fresh legs on the bench, but our girls never gave up!

Ladder position after Rd 8: 6th (4-4)

Next Week: Friday 5th June: Bellarine vs. Bulleen – at Bellarine Sports Centre (7.40pm)

Under 14 (A) Girls

Score: Bellarine 35 lost to Melbourne 45

Top Scorers: Bronte Burke (13pts), Alice Teague-Neeld (7pts), Bree Matthews (6pts)

Game Report: Playing Melbourne the second time around had us on the back foot as Melbourne obviously did their home work on us!  In a game were we trailed for the whole game and could never dictate to our terms, Melbourne pressured us and punished us on the scoreboard with every turnover.  Once again our offensive game failed to fire and we lacked intensity in D.  We will continue to learn from our opponents and become better players in the process.

The season is far from over and the girls will regain some form soon :-)  They are doing Fantastic!!!!

Next week we head to MSAC for the National Classic Tournament where the experience will be invaluable when the best teams around battle it out!

Ladder position after Rd 11: 6th (5-6)

Next Week: Friday 5th June: No game this week – National Junior Classic Weekend – good luck girls!!

Under 14 (B) Girls

Score: Bellarine 30 defeated Craigieburn 3 23

Top Scorers: Allison Marsh (22pts), Sam Townley (8pts)

Game Report: The first ten minutes of the game was brilliant.  The girls passing was excellent and their man to man defence was good. The girls put up some great shots but were unlucky with them.  We fell asleep towards the end of the first half and we let Craigieburn get in front.  We regrouped at half time and the girls went back out and played some great basketball.  We only had 6 players instead of our usual 8 and one was sick, but they all put in 100%. Once again I was very proud of the girls for not giving up and playing as a team, even when they were getting pushed around. Good job girls.

Ladder position after Rd 8: 3rd (5-2)

Next Week: Friday 5th June: Bellarine vs. Collingwood 2 – at Bellarine Sports Centre (8.00pm)

Under 20 Girls

Score: Bellarine 38 lost to Keilor 48

Top Scorers: Rachel Alldis (12pts), Megan Van Zyl (9pts), Emily Holohan (6pts)

MVP: Emily Holohan - Again Em played a full game mostly at what we now call point centre. Em is the consummate player that doesn’t say a lot out there, just gets the job done.

Game Report:  Felt good about this game all week and the team responded to our pre match talk with some great basketball and for a team that is building week to week, we had just won our first half of V.J.B.L ball. Unfortunately a different more aggressive Keilor came out in the second half and pressured us early and got out to a lead we could not reel in.

Highlights:  I was pleased with most of our game, again missed lay ups cost us a win, but we won the first half and we scored very well throughout  the game bar the 5 minutes they put the press on us. We  said one step at a time and we are so close to putting it all together I can taste it. We are a very good team that will win some games before the season ends. Keep the faith ladies; we know who we are and what we can do. The most pleasing part was we had every player score and we did it together. Jennah Weir hit her first ever points in Rep basketball another plus and that too shows we are heading in the right direction. Well done Jennah!  There is so much more ahead for us, I am proud of you all. Bob Parker (Coach)

Ladder position after Rd 8: 9th (0-7)

Next Week: Friday 5th June: Bellarine vs. Mornington – at Bellarine Sports Centre (8.40pm)
