Overview

In 1985/86 The Tasmania Touch Association conducted its first State Championship tournament. The tournament held in Devonport was won by Hobart in both the mens and womens competitions, with Devonport the unsuccessful finalist in both divisions. The tournament continued as an intra-state round series with three rounds played per year hosted by different affiliates until 1998. This year marked the beginning of the State Cup which is now held annually and rotated through the participating affiliates.

In 2016 the State Cup was held in Hobart and hosted teams in a number of divisions including Under 12s, 15s, 18s, Women’s Open, Men’s Open, 30s and Mixed. There could only be one winner of the cup at Wentworth Park this year, and it was Launceston who were the overall winners and lifted the cup for the 3rdconsecutive year.
