Heavy rain prior to the 1950 Streaky Bay FL Grand Final saw conditions where the contest may have been better settled in row boats.
Old timers at Streaky Bay and Piednippie will remember large bodies of water at the ground from time to time. The drainage is better these days, but our area will always get storms that challenge the playing surfaces. The sea side Streaky Bay team went on to win the premiership, better able to cope with the conditions than land lovers Calca-Chandada.
