W&DJFL announce Hanson as Naming Rights sponsor

The Warragul and District Junior Football League have joined a long term partnership with Hanson Construction Materials.

The mutual trading relationships between the Warragul & District Junior Football League and its thirteen affiliated clubs, have entered into a partnership arrangement that can deliver our junior football program in the Warragul and surrounding area’s.

Who are Hanson?

Hanson is one of Australia’s leading suppliers of heavy building materials to the construction industry. We produce aggregates, including crushed rock, sand, gravel, crusher dust and road base and a high quality premixed concrete range.

Hansons in the Community

Hanson is committed to giving back to the community. We contribute to local initiatives, like charities and community groups. We host open days and sponsor education programs. We employ locally. And we always consult with the community in our work.

But we don’t just do it out of the goodness of hearts. We do it because we’re actually part of the community. We’re not merely a business that works within the community.

So we know, from first-hand experience, that when we all do our bit, everyone benefits. We know, for instance, that when we engage proactively with community stakeholders to garner wider community support, we minimise disruption for everyone – including us. And our clients.

Likewise, when we create local employment opportunities or reduce traveling times for locals by contributing to vital infrastructure, we’re bettering their lives and, in the long run, we’re improving our business prospects.

League Presentation Night

The Warragul and District Junior Football League's presentation night last Friday was a full four quarter affair.
Members from all clubs were represented at the prestigious event, celebrating the achievements of players, coaches and management throughout the biggest season to date.
Proceedings were conducted smoothly by Rowan Fraser with wise and appropriate interjections from league President Anthony Hibbs and coaches.
The dedicated members of the W&DJFL hierarchy were also recognised for their efforts.
The two interleague sides were present, receiving awards for their outstanding performances during the Interleague Carnival.
In a historic event for the W&DJFL, Bella Brown won the Best and Fairest for the Under 12's league.
Bella played an excellent season and was a stand out on both the ground and the presentation night, collecting various awards.
Bella's efforts are something to be aspired to and her skill was brilliant, irrespective of gender.
Flynn O'Reilly swept the Under 14's Best and Fairest votes as the 'best on ground' in every game he played.
Flynn deserved the award for his uncompromising sportsmanship and consistently exceptional play.
Congratulations to all players, parents, coaches, managers and W&DJFL executives on what has been an outstanding season of junior football from the biggest junior league in country Victoria.

Twin Brothers Share the Grand Final in a Special Way

Brown Brothers

Ethan (left) and Lachlan (right) geared up and ready for a game.

Lachlan Brown and his twin brother Ethan will both be participating in this year’s W&DJFL Grand Final, but will both see it from different perspectives.

Youngster Lachie has been a newly appointed green shirt umpire this year in the Warragul and District Junior Football League.

His dedication to the craft allowed him to be selected by the Gippsland Umpires Association to officiate as one of the umpires in the Under 12 Grand Final, where Garfield will play Ellinbank.

His brother Ethan will also participate in the match, playing for Garfield, the team Lachlan was once on.

The twelve year old twins have a deep passion for the game, with Lachlan taking his umpiring very seriously and showing no favouritism.

Ethan has had decisions go against him when his brother has umpired him.

Not often is this sort of coincidence found but it is reminiscent of Brad and Chris Scott, coaches of North Melbourne and Geelong respectively.

One day the Brown brothers may assail the big leagues as sportsman and official.

To see what the future may bring, attend the W&DJFL Grand Finals on Sunday the 6thfrom 10:00am at Drouin Recreation Reserve.

Bunyip JFC - Quality On and Off the Field

Players in the Warragul and District Junior Football League have been excelling at every aspect of the game this season with their development evident in the way the teams have improved. It's excellent to hear accounts of their growth outside the game as well, becoming respectable young men and women.

Warren Cawcutt had this to say:

"I was at the Gippsland Power game yesterday when I saw your junior football club Under 14 boys sitting in the stands. Just wanted to let you know what a polite and well behaved group of young boys you have there. Well done" - Warren Cawcutt [Facebook]

In response to this the Bunyip Junior Football Club has added:

"Fantastic Warren, as a coach and president, these comments make it all worth it. I will be reading this message out to the boys and posting so their parents can see. Thank you so much for taking the time to make a comment. Cheers." - David Papley, Garfield JFC President [Facebook]

Well done to the Bunyip juniors and good luck with your finals campaign.
