Congratulations to Nyora – the 2018 EDFL premiers. And commiserations to Longwarry who were gallant in defeat. It was the Saints first premiership since 2007. Nyora the minor premiers won by four points in a low scoring game that - incredibly only yielded five goals on a day when intermittent showers made skilful football very difficult.more

EDFL GRAND FINAL DAY PREVIEW

Nyora and Longwarry will meet in the 2018 EDFL Grand Final this Saturday at Western Park Warragul. The Saints were minor premiers and justifiably enter as the team to beat as it has rose to the occasion in every big match they have faced this season. The match of the day will pit ladders leaders and this seasons big improvers Nyora against the inform and second placed Longwarry. Both have been stand outs this season and many good judges believe this game could be a dress rehearsal of the 2018 grand final.more

The most important and absorbing match of Round 14 will be at Western Park when the Dusties meet ladder leaders Nyora. If the home side loses it will most likely be displaced in third spot on the ladder by Catani.more

We ran a similar editorial last season and it produced a lot of feedback so here is an updated version.
Like last year it again disappointing that the EDFL could not field ten teams in each of its junior grades in 2018. Our U/16s and U/18s competitions comprised of only seven and eight teams respectively this season.more

It currently sits top of the table and well placed to play finals - two games clear of perennial finalist the Warragul Industrials. EDFL 2018 Fixture (Final)

The EDFL 2018 fixture is now official.

Our season will start on Saturday 7th April. There will be two weekend breaks during the home & away season – the first on 19 May (for senior Interleague) and the second on 9th June (Queens Birthday).
The first week of the finals will commence on Saturday 25th August with the Grand Final on Saturday 15th September.more

Catani have won the 2017 EDFL premiership after a heart stopping one-point victory over the Warragul Industrials at Western Park on Saturday. The game was played in front of a big crowd and few if any left until the final siren due to what was an absorbing contest from the first bounce.more

This Saturday will be the climax of the EDFL season when Warragul Industrials and Catani meet in the 2017 grand final. It will be the first time the Dusties and the Blues have met in a grand final. Warragul Industrials won their last flag in 1996 and Catani its last flag in 2005.more

Congratulations to Catani midfielder Paul Pattison who was a runaway winner of the EDFL 2017 Alf Walton medal for the league senior best and fairest which was held at the Warragul Downtowner on Monday night. Pattison polled 35 votes and won by 12 from Dusties midfielder Tyson Bale.more

Our U/18s performed exceptionally well winning three of their four matches and a respectable loss to the winners - the Gippsland Football League.

After an opening round victory over Mid Gippsland the U/16s tried hard but were no match for the Gippsland and West Gippsland in their following games.more

The EDFL U/16s performed very well in the Gippsland Junior Carnival on Wednesday winning two of its three matches. In its opening game the EDFL defeated Alberton by 11 points. Just dropping a message to advise the draft recommendations for the structure of football in Gippsland in 2017 has been deferred again.
