The Venue
Volleyball is conveniently located at Centralian Senior Secondary College. If you need fuel, Mobil is only a short drive up the road where you will also find Eat Me take-away. Need more sporting action? Cricket will be on just outside of the building. Why not take a ten minute stroll and check out the badminton at the YMCA? Netball, eightball and football (soccer) are also close by along Undoolya Road.
Centralian College Gymnasium is located on Grevellia Drive, just a few minutes from the centre of town. The gymnasium has 2 full size courts with some spectator viewing areas. The floor is a rebound surface and players are sure to enjoy the extra bit of bounce! The facility is well set up with change rooms/showers and toilets close by. The Central Australian Volleyball Association will once again set up a kiosk for players and spectators and will include food, drinks and the ever popular bar open from 5pm Daily. A players shady rest area will be set up on the grassy lawns adjacent to the playing area. Limited parking will be available.

Parking
The School have advised that the facility has strict parking rules and permits for parking do apply. There is no parking accessible near the gymnasium.
Parking will be available within the grounds, players and spectators should follow the directional signs for parking and to the gymnasium within the school grounds.
The organisers will not be liable for any parking infringements issued.
Participation
1. The 12th Alice Springs Masters Games (ASMG) Volleyball tournament is open to all players, male and female who meet with the minimum age requirements. The minimum age for men and women is 30 years of age.
2. The tournament is open to all players who attain or exceed the specified age category nominated for. The respective minimum age will be determined as at December 31st 2008. Men will not be permitted to compete in the Women’s division and Women will not be permitted to compete in the Men’s division. All players may play in the mixed division.
3. Players may be asked to verify their age by proof of identity (eg: license, passport etc…) before competing in an event. This may be an official of the Alice Springs Masters Games Staff or a Central Australian Volleyball designated official.
4. Players must have competed in at least 50% of their team’s minor round matches to be eligible to compete in that team’s final games.
5. Teams competing in the mixed division must have 2 men and 2 women minimum on the court at all times.
Competition Structure
1. The volleyball competition at the Games will be conducted under the auspices, rules and regulations of the Federation Internationale De Volleyball, 2005 – 2008. No technical time outs will be used.
2. It is recommended that a team shall comprise of at least six (6) players and no more than twelve (12). The list of team members will be confirmed on the first day of competition by tournament management. No additions may be made after this time. Players must be a registered competitor of the Alice Springs Masters Games and Volleyball.
3. Teams must have 6 players on the court for each match, unless prior clearance has been obtained from the Tournament coordinator.
4. The 6-substitution rule and Libero will apply.
5. Uniforms. Tops must be identical and numbered on the back and front. Shorts must also be identical colours.
6. The draw includes a 15-minute warm up period. In this time teams will have 5 minutes of spiking and 1 minute of serving.
7. Round robin matches will be played in three compulsory sets, rally point. The first 2 sets will be to 25 with a two-point advantage and no ceiling. The 3rd set will be to 15 with a two-point advantage and no ceiling three sets should be played within the game time limit of 1hr. If sets are not completed, a team must have reached 8 points and be in the lead by a minimum of 2 points for that set to count.
8. All playoff and medal matches shall be played over the best of five rally point sets to 25 with a two-point advantage and no ceiling. The deciding set shall be rally point to 15 with a two-point advantage and no ceiling. There will be no time limits for playoff or medal matches.
9. Each division will be played in two sections - round robin and then finals, dividing into nominated age divisions.
Round Robin results will gain tournament points as per the following:
* Forfeit 0points
* Loss 1 point
* Draw 2points
* Win 3 points
10. If at the end of the round robin matches 2 or more teams are tied on match points, the order of ranking will be decided by the highest set for, set against ratio: If the result is still tied, the order shall be determined by the highest points for, points against ratio.
Duty team requirements:
Please assist in the smooth running of the Volleyball tournament by following the procedures regarding duty requirements as set out below.
1. Duty teams are required to provide:
1st referee – preferably qualified
2nd referee
2 scorers
2 lines people (if possible)
2. The nominated duty team is responsible for:
Ensuring the warm up and match commences at the scheduled time as indicated on the draw.
Ensure games run smoothly, should any disputes arise, the chief referee and Sports Coordinator should be notified.
At the completion of the match vote on a MVP players and list this on the score sheet.
Ensure score sheets are returned to the Tournament control area.
If teams feel they do not have a capable 1st Referee please see Dale or Lynne so a referee can try to be arranged for your duty games.
