NCAA Sweepstake Update

The weekend began with 16 teams still in the NCAA Championship. Tim Bennetts still had a chance to take all the coin but his Florida Golf Coast over achievers bit the dust against Florida Sandra French's team. Then Al Robsons Michigan(4) took out number 1 seed in the South Region Isaac Gilpin's Kansas.

Over in the East Kevin Greenfields 1 seed Indiana never figured out the dreaded Syracuse 2:3 zone and were bundled out to send Leslie McLachlan's team to the Elite Eight. John Caldwell's Marquette (3) continued to play well to beat Andrew Harrisons Miami (2)

In the West XCMs Mark Roughan's Witchita State (9) took out fellow upstart Judge Jane's Lasalle (13) entry to advance while Jamie Grahams Arizona (6) was beaten by Megan Harlick's Ohio State (2).

Finally the Midwest Region saw overall number 1 seed Louisville take out Greg Williamsons Oregon (12) to set up a matchup with Kyle Louis Duke (2) who beat Ray Hasties Michigan State (3).

The Elite Eight began with a hot Michigan (4) taking out Florida (3) on the back of some outstanding 3 point shooting to win 79 - 59 and put Al Robson in the Final Four. Syracuse (4) strangled another one with the 2:3 Zone sending Marquette and John Caldwell home and Leslie Mclachlan to the semis.

Mark Roughan's Witchata State shot the lights out making 7, 3pointers in a row at one stage to knock out Megan Harlicks Ohio (2) and advance and continue the improbable run

Finally Louisville survived one of the most horrific injuries ever seen on a basketball court to beat Duke. Bench guard Kevin Ware snapped his lower leg trying to block a 3 point attempt. Both teams an coaches were visibly upset by the sight and it took several minutes to allow paramedics to be able to move him of the court for the game to continue. Louisville rallied behind the motivation of this to win 85 - 63 and Ware, who is from Atlanta, may be on the side lines with the team at the Final Four. Good luck to Paul Conner Louisville who will take on Mark Roughan Witchita State Sunday for us and Al Robson Michigan who take on Leslie McLachlan Syracuse also Sunday

The final will be Tuesday on ESPN.
