Event Details

Netball is proud to continue its involvement with the Arafura Games. As one of the inaugural sports in the 1991 Games, Netball has retained its popularity and been host to countries such as Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Brunei, Japan, Papua New Guinea and Thailand; just to name a few. Several other teams from within Australia make the journey regularly, especially the Australian Defence Force who are tough competition for the Northern Territory Team.

Netball is the most popular women's sport in Australia, and the Arafura Games is the perfect vehicle to enjoy an International Competition with our neighbours, and make friends for life.

The standard of competition at the Arafura Games could be compared to that of the Malaysian Games. The competition will be a Round Robin format with a finals play-off for all teams. As in past years, we predict there will be some big upsets leading into the finals as seen by the improvement of overseas teams as the week progresses.

Event Location

The competition will be held at a brand new indoor venue in Palmerston.

Event Rules

The rules of the Competition are those authorised by All Australia Netball Association, incorporating the Playing Rules of the International Federation of Netball Associations. More information on the rules can be found on Netball Australia's Website: www.netball.asn.au
