Wet, wet, wet!

Collegians and Wests live to fight another day after their elimination semi-final was washed out on Sunday.

The match was scheduled for Collegians Sports Centre but persistent, heavy rain on Saturday left the pitch unplayable.

League manager Chris Bannerman said that with both side's premiership chances at stake, the pitch was not fit for such a crucial game.

"It was basically under water and just unplayable," Bannerman said.

"We're looking at either Collegians again, and possibly WIN Stadium, but our aim is to play all the minor semis next Saturday ahead of the major semis on Sunday. We'll hopefully confirm a venue by Monday night."

Collegians coach Reece Simmonds said the postponement was the right decision.

"I don't think it would've been fair to either side to have played and the loser bow out in the conditions we would've had to play in.

"It was underwater. It would've just been a mud pile and no good for either team so I think the league's made the smart decision deferring it for a week," Simmonds said.

"We were ready to go but what can you do. You can't control the weather you've just got to control what you can control.

"You've just try and take the positives out of it ... it gives us another week to prepare."

The league's minor grade semi-finals went ahead on Saturday with Corrimal upsetting undefeated North 16-10 to book a place in the Coal Shield grand final. Norths now play Mt Kembla, who beat Avondale 26-16 in the minor semi.
