League Men – Palmerston v Razzle

Palmerston shot into a two way tie for first place on the ladder with an 83-64 win over a stubborn Razzle outfit that had held the lead at half time 35-33. Jesse Bell and Ben Muvirimi helped Palmerston scoot away to a narrow 18-16 first quarter lead before James Panton from the Razzle found the range in the second quarter. Panton hit 11 of his team high 24 (including a couple of treys) to give the green and gold the lead at the major break. After the break, however, Palmerston regained the momentum and marched off to victory by outscoring Razzle 50-29 in the second half. Bell finished up with a game high 30 points with Shaquille Hohipa-Wilson on 17, new recruit Eru McCullogh 15 and Muvirimi 10. Panton was supported by Robert Oliver on 17 and Ben Cowcher on 15.

Lightning v Uni Rebels

The Uni Rebels and Lightning fought out a real tough match-up with the Rebels persevering in the end to win the game 65-62. The see-saw game had the Lightning out in front at half time 35-33 and holding the advantage at the end of three quarters 50-45. Unfortunately for the Lightning they once again slipped by the wayside when they needed to maintain the momentum. The Rebels put it all together in the last quarter with a 20-12 run led by Aldrin Moday who knocked down 9 of his team and game high 19 points to help the Rebels to just their third win of the season. Jake Kirby added 14 and Jermaine Lattimore 13. For the Lightning Cameron Bailey hit 17 and Craig Martin 14.
