In 2013 Softball Victoria commissioned the inaugural Statistician of the Year award. The award recognizes the exceptional contribution made by a community softball statistician, with a focus on improving community / Association / State / National softball through encouraging participation, development, integrity and making softball more welcoming, safe and inclusive.
In 2014 the award was renamed the Lorraine Davies Statistician of the Year Award. Lorraine has been involved in the game for over 40 years, including spending 29 years as member of the Victorian Scoring Committee. For the past 23 years she has held the position of Director of Scoring and has been a driving force in making the Victorian scoring program the best in the country. Lorraine was on the Softball Victoria Board for 23 years and is a Life Member of Birralee Softball Club, Geelong Softball Association and Softball Victoria.
To be eligiible the nominee must have:
- A current minimum level 3 scoring accreditation
- A current Working with Children Check (if scoring juniors)
- Must be a current Softball Victoria member
Selection Criteria
- Score at a club, Association, State and / National level
- Have contributed through any or all of scoring, lecturing, mentoring and promoting the public image of scoring
- Demonstrated a commitment to continuous development through training and further learning
- Be a positive role model for other scorers/statisticians
