Waite Grand Finals 11/12

Another season draws to a close, and we say well done to all the teams that took part during the season and in the finals over the last two weeks.   9 grand finals were played on Thursday 1st March:

A Grade: S-Crew def. Soaks 10-4
B-Grade: Bulldogs A def. Original Touch Ups 8-7

C-Grade: Everlong Burners def. The Pugs 10-8

A/B: Sam Clark (Soaks), Lara Scrimgeour (S-Crew)
C/D: David McIlwaine (Smashed Beagles), Alice Cooke (Tetley Teabags)
E/F: Patrick Manson (Offsiders), Natasha Hollitt (Sister Morphine)
G/H: Harrison Lyons (Bulldogs B), Georgia Donnelly (Pirates Junior)

Finals are Approaching!

Game times for the last round before finals is now on the website, I only nearly forgot!

 It's probably a good idea to remind people that everyone will need to have played and signed on for 3 games to be eligible for the finals.  Also, while casual subs have been permitted during the season, players will only be eligible to play in one team for finals.

 I also ask that as we approach the pointy end of the season that players remember to respect each other and the referee and to enjoy the game.

A reminder on how the finals will work, grades will be split into a "top four", "bottom four".

For the semis 1v4 and 2v3, 5v8 and 6v7.  The winners of these games will then each progress to their respective grand final.  Only last placed team in the divs with odd numbers (C/D, E/F and Junior) will miss out for the finals.  Thanks to the wooden spooners, my apologies that you will miss out.

Good luck to you all, I hope everyone has a great last minor round game next Thursday, and then the GF will be on Thursday 1st March.

Code of Conduct

AUTC would like to remind all players, coaches, officials and spectators of the responsibilities they have in maintaining the Touch Football Code of Conduct (see attached).  The Code of Conduct is in place to ensure that we can all enjoy our sport free from threat of harassment, violence, abuse or unsportsmanlike behaviour.

Please remember that:

“The referee is the sole judge on matters of fact and is required to adjudicate on the rules of the game during play. The referee may impose any sanction necessary to control the match and in particular, award penalties for infringements against the rules.” (Rule 18.2: 7th TFA Edition Rule Book)

 I’m sure we can all look forward to many more enjoyable nights of touch by keeping the games in perspective and maintaining the code of conduct.

 Jo Waugh
AUTC President

Still unsure about the Uniform Rule?

For grades A/B and C/D: players must wear matching, numbered shirts.

 For grades E/F and G/H: shirts must be matching, but numbers are not required. (but it is reccommended.)

Shirts are considered "matching" as long as they are the same colour. Small variations in pattern or shade are permitted, as long as it is clear they belong to the same team.

 The penalty is: -1 touchdown for 1 person out of uniform, -2 touchdowns for 3 people out, -3 touchdowns for 5 or more people out.

The point(s) should be awarded as a positive score to the opposition, so that a negative final score cannot occur.

Referees should let both team captains know that a penalty will be applied as soon as the referee becomes aware that a player is out of uniform. Ideally this should happen at the start of the game, but it is within the rights of the opposing team's captain to draw it to the attention of the referee at any point.

Uniform Policy

A reminder that from round 4 onwards teams must be in uniform. For teams in e/f and g/h, that means matching shirts, for teams in a/b and c/d shirts must also be numbered. The penalty will be -1 touchdown for 1 person out of uniform, -2 touchdowns for 3 people out, -3 touchdowns for 5 or more people out. The junior div is exempt from this rule, but it is still strongly encouraged.

Full fees due 10 November

just a reminder that full fees are due THIS THURSDAY, 10 November. I'd very much prefer payment to the account IN A SINGLE PAYMENT to save all that cash at the desk -

Men Over 55 to count as Women

We have reversed - but revised - the rule for over aged men to count as women on the field, the rule has now been reinstated but it will apply only to men OVER 55.  The rule for under 13 boys remains as is.

Coloured Referees

You may notice that some of our referees are wearing bright green this year.

That is due to AUTC’s involvement with the Office for Recreation and Sport Coloured Shirt Program which is aimed at:

·Making new refs easily identifiable, so that they are easy to recognise and support;

·Promoting this program to the sports community to raise awareness and increase the recognition and support of new refs;

·Assisting in reducing pressure and lessening abuse and conflict directed towards new refs;

·Creating a culture of support towards these new refs via the education of players, spectators, coaches and the media.

Newly trained officials will be provided with an identifiable bright green officials’ shirt. These inexperienced referees will be encouraged to progress from their coloured shirt into the recognised orange officiating shirt, within a negotiated time frame.

Game times for the first two weeks are now available.  Good luck for the new season, games will be regraded after about round 3 if needed.
